We proceeded to take measures into our own hands and find a weapon. When we returned to the room we were prepared and knew we had to get it from under the bed. Believing that it was far in the back I kicked a bag to frighten the creature and to our horror it came full steam ahead at us out of the bag. We exited the room in about . The hostel workers must have thought we were being murdered because that was the fastest I have ever seen them move. Guilhermo found and killed it. And some girls questioned me as to if i was American. If being American means i am frightened of creatures running at me in my room then God bless America bitch.

Our roommates just finished a semester in BA quite like I did 3 years ago and like me decided to celebrate in Rio. Sarah and I were thi king of heading over to Buzios since it was suggested to us but the girls mentioned another place called Paraty which sounds really similar with it’s pristine beaches and less populated areas but a whole lot cheaper so tomorrow we are off to Party (paraty). Blaine feels bad for us since we can’t seem to actually get clean in this hostel so Christmas is coming early in the form of a very needed Spa day. Thank the lord. Or I guess in this case Blaine. He arrives in 9 days! Soooooo cited!

Tuesday,

Aweeeeee Brazil. Now the last time I was here I almost did not leave. This time there is no way I could stay unless Blaine wants to learn Portuguese :). . But he has spanish coming up first. Still waiting on the sun but it’s Rio all the same. The sun should be here on Thursday so the sight seeing shall wait until then. However the caipirinhas are flowing and Sarah gets to pet the monkeys tomorrow. Same hostel, diff owner. The guys who work here are super nice too. Guilherme has yet to stop singing and playing the guitar for us and he is fabulous. My fav part of hostels is the people you meet (obviously not much else) and we have met some nice ones thus far. We played drinking games on the beach last night with our new found friends and we le is sarah’s specialty! HA. So tomorrow to the tijuaca forest and Thursday on a party/sight seeing boat. . We will see where we end up from there. I may be wearing a hat for the rest of this Brazil part. My hair looks like a birds nest and Zion def just called me a monkey through the window :(. Poor poodle.

He even found me a four leaf clover after he realized I was haviWng a tough time missing Blaine

So when I was complaining about the other bus I had yet to see my hell on bus. Last night Sarah and I had an experience I know will never be forgotten. But first I will catch us up to there. On Jan 12, my previous post I had fallen asleep after writing. All of a sudden I was awoken by the entire bus shaking. We must have been on a dirt road I thought. We are probably almost there. But when the Asian girl next to me turned on her iPod to check time, we realized it was 3 in the morning. Now this scared me since I knew we were supposed to arrive at 7:00. The bumps couldn’t last the whole rest of the way could they?

To no avail. Sarah and I switched seats half way through the bus ride at about 1 in the morning. Then I got a few hours of sleep and she received no more. Welcome to the border at 6 am after many stops, many lights being turned-on, the lady in the seat in front of us stuff being stolen, and almost freezing to death. We hurried to our bags since they were not marked to some sort of ticket Free Sex Match and followed the Argentine sisters down the street. These girls were very friendly and helped us understand all that was going on. Even though they wanted to stay and shop for real cheap at the border shops they first walked us to the immigration. They wrote us a paper of where we must go in salta and the shops we must shop at when returning to BA.

Colonia del Sacramento is our new fav town. The cobble stone streets, the lighting, the Rio de La Plata, the restaurants, and the people have us wishing we had more time here then the night we just spent wandering around. I would recommend to anyone in Colonia to visit the Casa Grande restaurante which is owned by an Italian man, has great food, and service that while walking by caught us and kept us there. We leave Uruguay tomorrow morning early to catch our Buquebus back to BA so that Sarah and I can catch our flight to Cuzco, Peru and so that Blaine may return home :(. I cannot believe his time here went by so quickly. I am very excited for the next part of this trip for me and Sarah, but as usual, I hate missing Blaine. I believe tomorrow is going to be the longest day we will have this trip. The buquebus to the airport where Sarah and I have 4 hours to wait and poor Blaine has ten. Sarah and I have a three hour layover in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, then another in La Paz for twelve hours. Then the following morning we hop another flight to Cusco. We have yet to decide if we are airport sleeping or finding a hostel. It all depends on the airport and our luggage. Oh yes, and Blaine is ammmmmmaaazing. He took home one of each of Sarah’s and mines bags so that we could travel more freely. I just hope he does not want to kill us during customs in Houston.

After leaving Rio, we were back in Buenos Aires. We had an apartment for a week, which was great, after being in hostels for almost a month it was very much appreciated! This hostel living isn’t too bad, yes we both have our moments where we want to scream and bust out of there, but we are doing pretty well, I have to admit! 🙂
